Confirm and Challenge groups share their views about Transforming Care

Pathways support the Confirm and Challenge groups to share their views about the Transforming Care programme across the North West. On 17th April  Ray James, NHS England's National Learning Disability Director, visited the Lancashire Transforming Care partnership to challenge progress against targets of the number of people in hospital and  lengthy stays in specialist services experienced by people in Lancashire, compared to national figures. Pathways has written to the national team on behalf of the Lancashire Confirm and Challenge group, along with other areas in the North West, to express their support for the local approach that prioritizes people’s experiences and getting the right support, over the need to meet statistical targets set nationally.
The partnership were encouraged to explore how the local provider landscape influences trends in inpatient provision, to accelerate the development of community provision and to move forward in providing personal budgets to enable the right support to be built around people.  Lancashire Confirm and Challenge group are looking forward to working together on these things to improve care and support for people to live good lives in their community.
